A Visitation will be held at Hynes Funeral Home, 48 Walnut Street, Margaretville from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm until 9:00pm on Friday May 16th.

A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Main Street, Margaretville at 10:00am on Saturday May 17th


The Burial will take place Monday May 19th at St. Charles Cemetery.  All who are attending the burial are asked to be at:  Johnston's Wellwood Funeral Home, 305 Wellwood Avenue N. in Lindehurst, NY.  Before 9:45am; Cars will be organized into the procession  which will escort Anthony to the gravesite.

Anthony Calcasola, 93+, passed away on the 8th of May, 2014 at Mountainside Residential Center in Margaretville, NY. He was born on August 18, 1920 in Enfield, Connecticut to Calogero and Carmella (Marsala) Calcasola.

Anthony grew up in Thompsonville, CT. He graduated from Elementary school in 1937.  He joined his brothers, and began working in the Bigelow-Sanford carpet company mill until moving to Brooklyn, NY in 1939.

He began work for E.A. Laboratories as a shoemaker, where he worked for 4 years.  Anthony joined the Army in November 1943 and served for 3 years.

He served in WW II with the 44th Division, 114th Infantry regiment, Company "F" as a Light Machine Gunner and was the recipient of E A M E Campaign medal, American Campaign medal, Good Conduct medal and WW II Victory medal. He was discharged in 1946, with the rank of PFC. He returned to work at his brother’s shop as a shoemaker for 3 years, before beginning work for Cerro Wire as a machine operator where he worked until he retired in 1982 after 30 years.

Anthony married Mary Grace Dugan in 1944 in the Church of St. John the Baptist, in Brooklyn, NY.  They were happily married for 69 years.  Anthony was a member of Sacred Heart Church.   Anthony was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus, L.I. Council # 197, and a member of the American Legion Post 216. He enjoyed N.Y. Yankees Baseball, Stamp collecting, crossword puzzles and Jazz.

He also served on the Board of Elections and volunteered at the library, was keeper of the keys and Guy Friday at Sacred Heart Church.  Anthony often helped the Boy Scouts with their Christmas tree sales, as well.

Anthony was preceded in death by parents; Calogero and Carmella Calcasola; his wife Mary Grace; brothers, Louis, Ignacio (Nat), Angelo, Carmelo Calcasola and Sister; Lilly Castelluzzo and

Anthony is survived by   his daughter Carmella, (Bart) Basile of Roxbury, NY; his grandchildren Eric Sean and Karyn Janelle, (Aaron Rion); his great-grandchildren Sean Ryan and Robert William; and his nieces and nephews and other relatives.
